Ever Encountered Failure? Me too…
“Another Year, Another Attempt: Taking Control of Your Dreams with Success in Mind”
No use crying over spilled milk,
Lamenting won’t clean it up or stop it from happening again.
The same goes for past attempts that “didn’t stick”.
~~~~ This is an excerpt of a book “in the works”, ready for its debut! ~~~~
Keep reading for an opportunity to get involved.
A crisp, clear January morning, wind billowing through the tall grasses and empty branches of dormant brush and trees. It is colder than I would like, and I feel poorly both in my emotions and sinuses. The shiver running up my spine was part fever-induced and part shame of the derelict appearance of our land. Piles of spent hay, breaking down tree chips, gravel for the driveway, garden soil bags, random garden items, tools that need a little TLC, items purchased and set aside for the never-ending list of projects to “do next”. My game plan for last year’s homestead became an outline for dreams that never grew legs and started breathing.
So here I am again, in January, with a New Year's Resolution. It's time to hit the reset, right? To simply forget the past failure and try the same thing again would be simple. Try to build on the minimal growth and learning obtained last year. But I want to improve and learn from my past mistakes and failures. To shine a light on the faults, see what went wrong, and the possibility of building better next time.
My mind holds tight to a future successful farm due to getting ample attention, time, and money directed appropriately with drive and focus. From the circle drive and personal well, water collection and containment systems dotting the 5.8 acres, fruit orchard with seasonal quick-growing produce at each tree’s base, to a well-managed rabbitry with set rotational kitting in conjunction with the pig breeding cycles to keep “baby watch” to a single animal in any given week. It’s bright and colorful with plenty of space for parking, play, dogs, a garden, and storage. The piles noted earlier are still present and ready for any given project, but well-organized and simply to support the healthy flow of the farm as opposed to the chaos they expose in their current state.
A borrowed tractor, on cleaned-up land, with a beautiful blue sky. These are the days I dream of.
So here we go! We are taking this year by storm! Walk with me through the dream-out-loud phase, the outline of projects and goals, a healthy dose of reality in applying your current life flow while embracing your objectives, and how to find and allow grace in the bumps along the way. Grab a coffee or tea and get comfy as you read the next section. This year we will succeed together!
This book is a love letter of sorts. To all those who feel forgotten and placed aside when their dreams fail to become a reality that others can enjoy and engage with. Through this packed book, we will be outlining goal-making, becoming your “why”, dissecting what hasn’t worked to identify the miscalculation, time and energy well spent to reduce burnout, and more. There are ample hands-on and thought-provoking activities throughout each step that will pave the way between your best intentions and the business plan, church ministry lay out, personal growth edge, or head-turning garden.
